Ageless Style Begins with Classics

Welcome back!  We appreciate your support and encouragement of our first blog! Many of my clients over the age of 60 tell me they want to look stylish and relevant, yet still age appropriate.  They do not want to look like they are trying be 30.  The key to being beautifully styled at any age is to ground your outfit with classic pieces. Ageless style is completely attainable with the right items of clothing. Classic, well-made pieces stand the test of time and can be accessorized and styled to suit your age, mood, style and the occasion for which you are dressing.

To show that a woman over 60 can wear the same garment as someone in their 20’s, we are showing one garment on women from three different generations and in three different age-appropriate styles.  The Grand Slam Blazer is one of my favorite pieces in the cabi Spring’17 Collection. It is a beautifully cut, ponte knit navy blazer with adorable detachable cuffs.

Proving Ageless Style: 1 Blazer, 3 Generations

Brittany has the blazer styled with the Flirt Skirt, the Lace Cami and Converse sneakers – perfect for chasing my grandson, Deacon.  The skirt may also be worn as a top with jeans.  This outfit screams youthful comfort.  Moreover, I love the juxtaposition of the feminine and sporty.  It is very right now!  She can wear it to work by simply changing her shoes.  She opted to remove the cuffs and push up the sleeves for a casual look.

My lovely mother is 89 years young (Yes 89!) and enjoys looking stylish.   She still has a great figure (high hopes for my future). She is wearing the Grand Slam Blazer with the Top Notch Trouser for a classic pantsuit look.  Under the jacket is the cabi Wish Top in a fun dandelion print.   Mom loves getting dressed up and driving to church each Sunday.  This outfit is perfect for that.  The jacket gives her the arm coverage and enough warmth in the A/C.   She opted to remove the cuffs for a classic ¾-sleeve look.  On her wrist is the Seahorse Cuff.  She finished it off with nude pumps from Clarks.

For my turn, I wore the Grand Slam Blazer with the cuffs (because they are just too darling not to!) for a sportier look.  I paired it with the Flirt Cami and Curvy Tidal Skinny Jeans. I love the happy aqua color.  The higher rise keeps any muffin at the bakery instead of over my jeans. The jeans dressed the jacket down for a great everyday look.  I added the Riviera Necklace, Cinch Belt and Isla Wedge, along with Vintage Kate Spade Sunglasses and purse. The Flirt Cami matches perfectly with the Flirt Skirt Brittany is wearing for a one-and-done dress look.

So there you have it!  One (precious) garment three ways on three different ages.  For ageless style, every woman needs to have some classic basics in her closet.  What pieces are you missing? Let E. Caldwell and Associates help you find your wardrobe classics.

Fashionably yours, Ellen
